Overview
In October 2021 I decided to make my music more easily available by releasing .pdf computer files for free sharing.
My plan was to enable you to purchase a PDF online from me very cheaply, and then share it for free to anyone you wish. However, at this point in time I will simply make the files entirely fee. Anyone can print and photocopy the PDFs for free.
It doesn't matter where you find the PDF (perhaps from a friend or teacher), you will always be permitted to share it for free.
A small quantity of hard copies may soon be available for purchase on my website.
Free sharing only applies to the notation. Royalties may still be payable for performances etc.
Finer details
Copyright and royalty info for my music
Non-commercial copying of the notation (PDF) is permitted. Music scores by myself, including hardcopies and freely-shareable PDFs, may be found at mixmargaret.com/pdf
The NOTATION of this music may be freely shared. Anyone can download the PDF from my composer website (or a reseller/publisher authorised by me), and then freely share it to anyone as a PDF, or print or photocopy it as sheet music, without further payment.
You don’t need to print every page, but the copyright information found in the score MUST BE INCLUDED.
No unauthorised adaptations or arrangements can be made. The shared PDF cannot be shortened or altered; online it must always be shared in its entirety. Of course, you may 'mark up' the score with fingering numbers and more performance directions etc.
ROYALTIES may be payable for performance, recording, broadcast, streaming, videos etc. With a lot of music globally this can usually be paid via a blanket annual licence from the performance royalty organisation (PRO) in your country. In Australia that’s APRA AMCOS / OneMusic (which are all the same people). See onemusic.com.au.
When reporting to the PRO for royalties please quote the Work ID GW number for the work (found on every page in the score), or the ISWC (International Standard Music Work Code, beginning with "T-," found usually on the last page of the score), or report full details of the performance to the composer.
Requests for an arrangement should be emailed to me. I'm open to commissions for making new arrangements of my works for various forces. I have composed for several other instruments and had many years of experience with piano & choral music. I learnt trumpet and clarinet as a teenager, and studied orchestration for two years with Professor Sir Frank Callaway in a previous century.
