Information for

PROSPECTIVE  STUDENTS
I can teach you in person at your home in the Shire of Mundaring, or anywhere in the world online.

Subjects offered:
Piano (ages 8 to 108), singing (over 18 only), vocal health, music theory, people with serious tone-deafness (over 16), and speech technique.
Fees:
Students under 18 years: $50
18 years and over: $80
All my lessons are nominally 45 minutes, even for children. However, I don't mind going overtime without charging extra if a longer lesson seems appropriate on any particular day. Many lessons end up being one hour, for no extra cost.

My rates compare favourably with those of the local teachers association (which I was an accredited teaching member of many years ago), which you can see here.

With some young beginner piano students we can try 30 minutes ($40) as some may find their concentration drops after half an hour, and some others may find they are absorbing quite enough to do well with a short lesson. Even so, 45 minute lessons are the norm for most of my students, of any age.

Books and other teaching materials

Initially, I always try to use whatever music teaching books students already have. Bear in mind that what counts is not so much which materials are used, but how the materials are used.

With beginner and intermediate piano students I use a lot of things I have made myself over the years (some of which were published). I can send you the link or email them as PDF files. These include original piano repertoire pieces, arrangements of famous pieces, finger exercises, beginner studies to develop co-ordination, theory pages, and sight-reading exercises.

When we need more books etc I will provide them to you and bill you for them on the next invoice. I try to keep these costs minimal.

Fees for any music exams, eisteddfod competitions etc are also placed on the next invoice.

Give me a call or send me an email if you want lessons in singing, piano, theory, keyboard harmony, or voice care, or you need speech restoration. Contact me if you're looking for piano accompaniment for exams, auditions etc, or solo piano for restaurants and weddings etc.
